The Local Advisory Group met on Thursday, September 2, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Hall of Honors at Governors State University. The purpose of this meeting was to present the criteria the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans on using to evaluate alternative airport configurations for the South Suburban Airport. Each alternative that IDOT has developed internally, has been submitted to IDOT for consideration during the Local Advisory Group meetings or has been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during the EIS scoping process, will be evaluated.
IDOT will be examining alternatives for an ultimate airfield layout, an inaugural airfield layout, ultimate ground access, inaugural ground access, inaugural terminal facilities and inaugural support facilities. Once preferred alternatives have been identified through the evaluation process, a preferred master plan for the airport will be developed. IDOT will present their preferred concept to the Local Advisory Group later this fall.

Some of the comments and concerns raised during the Local Advisory Group meeting included:
- What is the definition of airport-related development?
- Does impacts to local roads take into consideration the amount of current traffic on those roads?
- Communities are concerned about the preservation of land for future development – how much land needs to be preserved?
- Are alternatives from previous meetings being considered?
