Master Plan Report Printable Version

The Master Plan Report for South Suburban Airport will follow guidelines issued by FAA, in particular, Advisory Circular 150/5070-6A, Airport Master Plans. As stated on the Master Plan Home Page, a Master Plan represents the planner’s concept of the long-term development of an airport. Typically, the Master Plan consists of several chapters including:

  • Inventory of Existing Conditions - a compilation of data on the airport and airspace infrastructure and airport-related land uses. In the case of SSA, since it is a new facility, this chapter of the Master Plan will discuss existing conditions on the site.
  • Forecasts - aeronautical demand will be anticipated for short, intermediate and long-range time frames for all facets of aviation potentially using SSA.
  • Facility Requirements - the facilities required to serve the demand identified in the forecasts are determined and described in this chapter.
  • Alternative Concepts - alternative airfield and landside facilities are identified and evaluated in this chapter, including potential location of facilities within the airport site.
  • Environmental Analysis - the potential environmental impacts of the alternatives recommended for consideration in the Alternative Concepts chapter are discussed in this section.
  • Airport Plans - the recommended Airport Layout Plan (ALP) and Land Use Plan for the airport is discussed in this section.
  • Project Implementation - this chapter discusses potential phasing of construction and development of the airport over time, as well as identifying costs of the project.

As these chapters become available for public review, they will be posted on this web site.
